Overview

  • Safran Aircraft Engines has created Safran Aircraft Engine Services India to establish its first M88 engine maintenance, repair and overhaul facility outside France in Hyderabad, set to begin operations by year’s end.
  • The workshop will be equipped to handle over 600 M88 engine modules annually, catering to Rafale fighter jets operated by India’s Air Force, Navy and international customers.
  • The project is projected to generate around 150 skilled jobs by 2026, with scope to expand the workforce by an additional 750 positions in later phases.
  • This MRO venture deepens Indo-French defense industrial ties and builds on recent Dassault Aviation and Tata Advanced Systems agreements to produce Rafale fuselages in Hyderabad.
  • Supported by Telangana’s 100% FDI policy for MRO services and a reduced GST rate, the initiative underscores Hyderabad’s emergence as a key aerospace and defense manufacturing hub.
