Overview

  • Strike votes passed overwhelmingly in Fort Collins, Greeley, Longmont and Loveland with more than 95% approval, while Colorado Springs members backed an unfair labor practices walkout by 99%.
  • Workers in Grand Junction began picketing on Tuesday at a store on F Road, temporarily closing it as roughly 30 employees protested alleged unfair labor practices.
  • Negotiations between UFCW Local 7 and Safeway/Albertsons, ongoing for nine months, are set to resume on Tuesday and again on Wednesday.
  • The union rejected Safeway and Albertsons’ latest proposal, saying it fails to meaningfully address staffing levels, livable wages and protection of health and pension benefits.
  • UFCW Local 7 President Kim Cordova warned that additional walkouts could launch at other locations statewide if no agreement is reached.
