Sacyr Resists Sale as ISSSTE Seeks Buyout of Tláhuac Hospital

The agency argues a buyout would halt steep recurring outlays under the private contract.

Overview

  • ISSSTE chief Martí Batres said negotiations continue to acquire the Hospital General de la CDMX in Tláhuac, but operator Sacyr has resisted selling.
  • The institute currently pays 137 million pesos each month to the private operator under the existing arrangement.
  • The contract spans 23 years and was originally valued at 21,475 million pesos, according to Batres.
  • Officials estimate that letting the deal run to term would exceed 37 billion pesos, which they say could finance about 10 regional hospitals.
  • ISSSTE says its board has approved the funds for an early purchase, noting that APP-run hospitals in Tepic, Villahermosa and Mérida were acquired in 2024.
