• Sacramento State has announced a combat sports development program in partnership with UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber, starting in fall 2024.
• The program, Combat U, aims to provide a collegiate pathway for future professional mixed martial arts fighters and also serve those new to the sport.
• Combat U will be managed by the school’s athletic department and the student affairs division, with eight coaches hired to teach various forms of martial arts.
• The program will offer scholarships for competitors, with a unique structure that sits between club and intercollegiate athletics.
• Combat U will also host professional matches on campus, with events distributed on the UFC Fight Pass service.
