Sabres sign Dahlin to historic $88 million extension

Dahlin signed an 8-year, $88 million contract with the Sabres, the richest deal for a defenseman.
The 22-year-old had a career year last season with 73 points.
Buffalo also extended forwards Thompson, Cozens and defenseman Samuelsson.
Dahlin's $11 million AAV puts him third among NHL defensemen.
The deal allows the Sabres to move forward with negotiations for other players like Owen Power.
