Just hours later, he was caught again in Schleiz with a reduced level of 0.58 promille.
Police confiscated his car keys to prevent further incidents.
The man will face a one-year suspension of his driver's license.
A separate incident involved a 47-year-old in Speyer caught with 1.36 promille, who had his keys taken until sober.
