Overview
- Three separate signal repairs, a defective level crossing and a broken track switch produced widespread delays, cancellations and altered routings across the S‑Bahn network on Saturday.
- A signal repair in Teltow Stadt left the S26 running only between Potsdamer Platz and Lichterfelde Süd and prompted the operator to tell passengers to use the S25 between Lichterfelde Süd and Teltow Stadt.
- A signal fault at Alexanderplatz disrupted the Stadtbahn and split the S7 into two segments between Ahrensfelde–Ostbahnhof and Westkreuz–Potsdam Hauptbahnhof, with passengers directed to use the S3, S5 or S9 between Ostbahnhof and Westkreuz.
- In Pankow a defective signal affected S2, S8 and a shortened S85 that ran only from BER to Treptower Park, and service on the S8 was further slowed by a technical defect at the Schönfließ level crossing.
- A broken switch at Südkreuz reduced Ringbahn frequencies and truncated the S47 before operators repaired the switch later on Saturday, but ongoing signal and crossing faults left several lines operating at reduced capacity and prompted widespread alternative‑routing advice for passengers.
