Ryne Sandberg, Cubs Hall of Famer, Dies at 65 Following Cancer Battle

He died on July 28 in hospice care at his Chicago home surrounded by family.

Overview

  • Sandberg spent his entire 15-season MLB career with the Cubs from 1982 to 1997, becoming a 10-time All-Star, nine-time Gold Glove winner and the 1984 National League MVP.
  • He publicly revealed a metastatic prostate cancer diagnosis in January 2024, announced remission in August and disclosed a relapse in December 2024.
