Ryedale’s First McDonald’s Opens at Eden Business Park

The project showcases low-carbon construction under the UK Green Building Council’s Net Zero Pilot Scheme.

Overview

  • The new outlet began welcoming customers at 10 am on July 16 with an 83-seat dining room and drive-thru service.
  • It is the first of two McDonald’s sites in the UK submitted to the UKGBC’s Net Zero Pilot, featuring low-impact steel, sheep’s wool insulation and solar panels.
  • Local franchisee Richard Marcroft invested in the development in collaboration with the Fitzwilliam Trust and area suppliers.
  • The build phase generated 95 construction jobs and the restaurant will create up to 120 full- and part-time roles.
  • Analysts project the centre will contribute around £5 million in annual spending and improve dining convenience for Ryedale residents.
