Overview
- From November 12, boarding passes will be issued in the myRyanair app and routine paper passes will stop, a change the airline says will cut costs and eliminate up to roughly 300 tonnes of paper a year.
- Passengers must complete online check‑in before arriving at the airport, or pay the standard airport check‑in fee reported as £55 per person.
- Customers who have checked in but lose their device, run out of battery or do not have a smartphone will be assisted and given a free paper pass at the airport.
- Mobile passes are not accepted for departures from Morocco and Turkey (except Dalaman) and from Tirana, so printed passes remain required on those routes.
- Some reports suggested a November 3 start, but Ryanair and its chief marketing officer state the switch begins Wednesday, November 12, as critics flag access concerns for older travellers and ministers cite CAA fairness rules.
