Overview
- Ryanair announced a further 1.2 million seat reduction at Spain’s regional airports for summer 2026.
- The airline will withdraw all flights to and from Asturias next summer, while winter services continue under promotional contracts through March 2026, according to regional officials.
- Capacity will be redeployed with about 600,000 additional seats at larger airports including Madrid, Barcelona, Málaga and Palma.
- Today’s cuts build on 800,000 seats removed last summer and around 1 million for this winter, taking regional reductions to roughly 3 million across 2025–26.
- CEO Michael O’Leary urged Aena to reverse the increase and said some low-demand airports need fee cuts of up to 50% to spur traffic, stating growth will concentrate at major hubs.
