Overview
- A Malta Air-operated Ryanair Boeing 737 left Thessaloniki for Memmingen on Friday and returned about an hour after takeoff when a cabin window dislodged and oxygen masks deployed.
- Witnesses and verified cabin images show a 61-year-old Serbian man was pulled partly through the broken window and was restrained by his wife and other passengers before the crew landed the aircraft safely.
- The injured man was taken to hospital with neck and shoulder injuries and friction burns while several other passengers received precautionary checks and some were treated on the ground.
- The Hellenic Air and Rail Safety Investigation Authority is leading an active investigation and the FAA, NTSB and Boeing have been notified and offered assistance.
