Overview

  • Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman officially acquired the Australian SailGP team on June 5, becoming co-owners alongside Olympic champion and CEO Tom Slingsby.
  • The squad has been rebranded as the BONDS Flying Roos with Australian underwear brand BONDS stepping in as the team's first title sponsor.
  • The Flying Roos have captured three SailGP championships in four seasons and will launch under their new identity at the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix on June 7–8.
  • The acquisition expands Reynolds’ sports portfolio, which already includes co-ownership stakes in Wrexham AFC, Club Necaxa, La Equidad and the Alpine F1 Team, and marks Jackman’s debut in sports ownership.
  • SailGP, founded in 2019 by Russell Coutts and Larry Ellison, fields 12 national teams in identical 50-foot foiling catamarans and anticipates at least $100 million in revenue for 2025.
