Ryan Garcia sustained an aggravated bilateral wrist injury during training, prompting the postponement of his December 30 exhibition fight in Tokyo.
Dr. Steven Shin of Cedars-Sinai Orthopaedics recommended Garcia avoid sparring and boxing matches for several weeks after an evaluation on December 12.
Garcia, 26, is currently serving a one-year suspension for testing positive for a banned substance but is allowed to participate in exhibition bouts during the suspension.
The rescheduled exhibition against Rukiya Anpo, a former kickboxing champion, is expected to take place in early 2025, though no specific date has been announced.
Both fighters expressed disappointment over the delay, with Anpo emphasizing his desire to face a fully recovered Garcia in the ring.
