RWE and North Star Seal Offshore Wind Service Vessel Deal

The deal secures immediate deployment of two CSOVs to support offshore wind maintenance this year, interim ships covering operations until late 2026, new SOVs ordered for delivery from 2028.

Overview

  • RWE chartered two 87.5-metre CSOVs—Grampian Eagle and Grampian Kestrel—for at least 12 years at Triton Knoll and 10 years at German North Sea projects
  • Both vessels delivered in 2025 feature motion-compensated gangways, boat landing systems, accommodations for 120 personnel and are alternative-fuel ready
  • Charter contracts kick off in winter 2025 in Germany and summer 2026 in the UK, each with options to extend by up to three years
  • Windward Offshore will supply Windward Athens and Windward Paris as interim support vessels until the North Star CSOVs enter service by the end of 2026
  • Reservation agreements with Vard lock in two newbuild SOVs for 2028 and 2029 delivery, and the four-vessel pact is expected to secure up to 200 jobs including 100 new roles
