• Ruth Langsford teamed up with Amazon and Dementia Carers Count to launch the free Alexa visual guide for unpaid dementia carers in the UK.
• Developed with input from caregivers and healthcare professionals, the guide features 15 voice-controlled tools for managing daily tasks via Alexa-enabled devices.
• Tools include medication reminders, 'Drop In' remote check-ins, hands-free shopping lists, family photo displays on Echo Show screens.
• Research by Dementia Carers Count found that 71 per cent of unpaid carers feel under-supported and more than a third describe their role as a full-time, round-the-clock commitment.
• Langsford, who has been her mother Joan’s main carer from her Surrey home since her father died of Alzheimer’s in 2012, describes the role as a relentless responsibility that can be overwhelming.
