Rust armorer pleads not guilty, trial set for December as investigation continues

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed in October 2021 after a gun held by actor Alec Baldwin discharged on the set of the film Rust.
Charges against Baldwin were dropped, but charges remain against armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed for involuntary manslaughter and evidence tampering.
Gutierrez-Reed pleaded not guilty and waived her right to an arraignment, with her trial set for December 2023.
Prosecutors allege negligence by Gutierrez-Reed in handling firearms, while the defense claims it was a tragic accident.
The investigation remains ongoing even as filming on Rust has resumed with new safety protocols in place.
