Russia's 'Undefeatable' Missile Fails in Ukraine, Says UK
The AS-24 KILLJOY missile, touted as a 'super weapon' by Putin, has been missing targets and intercepted by Ukraine's defense system.
- Russia's 'undefeatable' AS-24 KILLJOY air-launched ballistic missile has been missing its targets in Ukraine, according to British defense officials.
- The missile, which can carry a nuclear payload and can travel faster than the HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) that the U.S. has given Ukraine, was likely fired at a military airfield in central Ukraine on December 14.
- This was probably the first time since August that Russia had fired the missiles, which are one of the six 'super weapons' announced by Putin in 2018 as playing a significant role for Russia's military doctrine.
- Many of the missile's launches have likely missed their intended targets, while Ukraine has also succeeded in intercepting attacks by this supposedly 'undefeatable' system.
- Ukraine had already shot down six Kinzhal missiles that Russia fired in an assault in May.
