Overview
- Russia’s overnight strikes used more than 100 drones alongside guided bombs and missiles to target seven Ukrainian regions, including Kyiv, Pryluky and Kharkiv.
- At least 10 civilians, including a fire chief’s wife, daughter and grandson in Pryluky and four residents in Kyiv, were killed, and dozens more were injured.
- The barrage follows Ukraine’s June 1 “Operation Spiderweb” drone attack, which damaged Russian strategic bombers deep inside the country.
- President Putin told President Trump he would retaliate strongly for the bomber strikes, but the hour-long call did not secure a ceasefire.
- The US embassy in Kyiv warned of continued significant airstrike risks, urging citizens and foreign nationals to stay under cover.
