Russia’s New-Vehicle Sales Drop 22% YTD as October Tilts Toward Domestic Models

The industry ministry said locally built vehicles reached a 55% market share based on PPK analysis using electronic vehicle passport data.

Overview

Total new-vehicle sales in January–October 2025 fell to 1.197 million units, down 22% year over year, according to the ministry.
October deliveries reached 183,400 units, up 34% from September and 81.7% above June, but 8% lower than October 2024.
Sales of Russian-built cars in October rose 9% to 100,700 units as imports fell 22.8% to 82,700.
Domestic models accounted for a 55% share for the 10-month period, with the domestic market down 3% to 657,600 units.
By segment for the period: passenger cars fell 20% to 1.055 million, LCVs 23% to 86,700, trucks 56% to 46,400, buses 42% to 9,600, and new EVs 38% to 10,400.
