Russia’s New EV Sales Drop 30% in 2025 to 12,500 as Market Reshuffles

AutoStat’s tally highlights Zeekr’s faltering lead alongside Tesla’s slide to ninth.

Overview

  • AutoStat reported 12,500 new electric passenger cars registered in 2025, down from 17,800 in 2024 and below 2023’s 14,100.
  • Zeekr finished the year as market leader with about 3,000 registrations, even as its volume fell 61% and momentum faded late in the year.
  • Russian brands advanced in the rankings, with Evolute second at 1,800 units (+47%) and Amberavto third at 1,100 A5s (about 6.5 times higher).
  • Avatr (978) and Moskvich (880) rounded out the top five, with Moskvich’s results largely driven by deliveries of the 3e model to legal entities in Moscow.
  • Tesla dropped to ninth with 449 registrations, down 34% year over year, while BYD (843), Xiaomi (703) and Geely (463) increased their presence.
