Overview
- A multi-storey residential building in a densely populated area of Odesa was hit on Sunday, Oct. 18, producing a roof fire and damage to top-floor apartments and the building’s boiler room.
- Two people were confirmed injured, including a 13-year-old girl who received medical care at the scene.
- Emergency crews extinguished the blaze, evacuated residents and set up an on-site operational response center to assist those affected.
- More than 50 rescuers and emergency psychologists worked at the site, and authorities introduced emergency power cuts across the Odesa region as services and heating systems were disrupted.
- Officials said the strike is part of a recent wave of long-range Russian attacks that have repeatedly hit populated Ukrainian cities, damaged civilian infrastructure and added strain to Ukraine’s air defenses.
