Overview
- The crash occurred July 5 on the M-9 Baltia at km 191 near Rzhev when an elk suddenly entered the road and struck the passenger-side windshield of the couple’s Porsche Panamera.
- Her husband, Ilya, said he had no time to avoid the animal, and that an ambulance arrived about 15 minutes later before she was moved from a local hospital to a Moscow clinic.
- She sustained severe head trauma, underwent multiple operations, developed post-traumatic meningitis and then sepsis, and died in mid-August after more than a month in intensive care.
- Her death was confirmed by her family, her agency Modus Vivendis, and the Miss Universe Organization, with reports differing on the exact date (Aug. 12 or Aug. 15).
- Relatives have urged authorities to install wildlife fencing and other protections on that M-9 stretch, which they describe as a frequent site of animal collisions.
