Russian Investigator Jailed for Record $73 Million Bitcoin Bribe

Marat Tambiyev, a former Russian state investigator, was convicted of taking bribes mainly in Bitcoin from an organized crime group he was investigating.
The $73 million bribe is over five times larger than any previous bribery case in Russia's modern history.
Prosecutors revealed that Tambiyev transferred more than half of the crime group's Bitcoin to his own wallets, with access codes found on his laptop.
Authorities have recovered over a third of the Bitcoin linked to the case, but the remainder's whereabouts are unknown.
Kristina Lyakhovenko, a colleague of Tambiyev, was also sentenced to nine years in prison, with both planning to appeal their convictions.
