Overview
- A Russian drone struck a passenger locomotive about two kilometres from the Dorohusk–Yagodyn crossing, Sunday, and Ukrzaliznytsia said a diplomatic train carrying Boris Johnson and other officials had just passed the same line.
- Ukrainian authorities and rail operators ordered an immediate evacuation of the affected train and reported no casualties after the strike.
- The Kremlin said Russian forces will continue attacks across Ukraine and the Russian defence ministry framed the operation as targeting rail infrastructure used to move Western military cargo.
- The train strike came after a separate large overnight barrage that Ukrainian officials said involved more than 450 drones and missiles, produced at least six deaths and strained Ukraine’s air-defence systems by forcing hundreds of interceptions.
- Poland convened emergency talks and European officials urged allies not to be deterred, warning the strikes raise risks to NATO-border transport routes and could disrupt Western military aid flows into western Ukraine.
