Russian Drone and Missile Barrage Hits Kharkiv Hospital and Saltivka District

After the latest strike in Kharkiv caused civilian injuries alongside infrastructure damage, Ukraine secured a U.S. decision to resume Patriot missile shipments

Overview

  • In the early hours of July 11, a Russian drone-and-missile strike on Kharkiv’s Saltivka District damaged a residential block and shattered windows at a maternity hospital, injuring three residents and causing acute stress among mothers and newborns.
  • On July 10, Ukraine’s General Staff reported 214 combat clashes with Russian forces along the front, with the heaviest fighting in the Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka sectors and Russian troops deploying over 3,800 kamikaze drones and conducting more than 5,500 attacks.
  • Ukrainian defenders repelled dozens of assaults in Popiv Yar, Myrne, Razine and other settlements, maintaining their positions despite sustained airstrikes, guided-bomb drops and multiple launch rocket system barrages.
  • At President Trump’s direction, the U.S. Department of Defense resumed shipments of Patriot missiles and other defensive weapons to bolster Ukraine’s air defenses following a brief suspension.
  • President Zelenskyy and senior officials are urging Western partners to deliver additional air defense systems and impose tougher sanctions on Russia to counter the intensified assault and protect civilian infrastructure.
