Russian Cosmonauts Successfully Complete Spacewalk, Deploy Radar System

The spacewalk, which included the installation of communication and corrosion analysis equipment, was completed ahead of schedule.

Cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub completed a spacewalk on April 25, 2024, deploying a synthetic radar communications system and installing corrosion analysis equipment.
The spacewalk, planned for seven hours, was completed in just over four hours, demonstrating efficient task management.
This marks the seventh spacewalk for Kononenko and the second for Chub, contributing to the ISS's ongoing maintenance and upgrades.
The radar system, a key component for monitoring Earth's environment, was successfully activated after a previous installation issue was resolved.
The cosmonauts also conducted additional tasks including the rotation of a plume impingement unit and the collection of biological exposure experiments.
