Overview
- Ukraine reported that Russia fired more than 120 attack drones and 12 missiles, about half of them high-speed ballistic weapons, in a large overnight assault that struck Kyiv and other regions on Saturday.
- Ukrainian air defences shot down most drones and some cruise missiles but struggled to intercept the ballistic missiles, which reached targets in Kyiv, Sumy and Odesa and caused civilian deaths and dozens of injuries.
- Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces said they struck dozens of Russian vessels and hit five electrical substations in occupied Crimea as part of an intensified campaign to degrade Russia's fuel and logistics flows.
- Moscow and Kyiv issued sharply different tallies of drones and ships destroyed, with Russian officials claiming hundreds of Ukrainian drones were intercepted while Ukrainian commanders gave larger counts of Ukrainian strikes on the 'shadow fleet.'
- President Zelensky has urged allies to speed deliveries of interceptors and to finalise licensing for domestic Patriot production, a push that could determine how quickly Ukraine restores sustained defence against ballistic missile attacks.
