Russia Sets Three-Day May Holidays for 2026 as New Year Break Stretches to 12 Days

Officials say transfers under the labor code preserve a 247-day work year.

Overview

  • May time off will run from May 1–3 and May 9–11, according to the official production calendar.
  • The shorter May breaks follow a 12-day New Year holiday period set for December 31, 2025 through January 11, 2026.
  • Workers on a five-day schedule will have 247 working days in 2026 and 118 days off, including shortened pre-holiday days.
  • Four-day May weekends that occurred in several recent years will not be repeated in 2026, TASS noted.
  • The labor code provides 14 public holidays with transfers when they fall on weekends, and a State Duma member said additional three-day weekends will occur around February 23 and March 8.
