Russia Says 'Vostok' Group Hit Ukrainian Drone Control Sites in Zaporizhia

The claims were issued by the Defense Ministry without independent corroboration.

Overview

  • The Russian Defense Ministry reported that units in Zaporizhia destroyed fortified positions, personnel and drone command points tied to Ukrainian forces.
  • A BM-21 Grad battery from the 35th Army struck fortified sites, temporary billets and positions used by UAV operators, according to the ministry.
  • Reconnaissance drones identified camouflaged strongpoints before 152 mm Msta-B guns carried out targeted strikes that killed troops sheltering in trenches.
  • Russian officials said strike UAVs destroyed ground control stations, aerial relays and heavy Baba Yaga–type hexacopters near Verkhnyaya Tersa and Staroukrainka.
  • In a separate claim, Russian security sources said four UAV detachments called “Mamkina cheryeshnya,” linked to Ukraine’s 58th brigade, were eliminated in Kharkiv’s Zolochiv district.
