Russia Says It Repelled Sumy Counterattacks, Nearly Destroyed Encircled Units Near Sinyelnykove

The claims come from unnamed Russian security sources cited by RIA Novosti, with no independent verification.

Overview

  • Russian security sources said four Ukrainian counterattacks on the Sumy axis were pushed back to their starting positions.
  • Two attacks were reported near Alekseevka, with one each near Stepovoye (Leninskoye) and Kondratovka.
  • The sources said the assaults were repelled by what they called comprehensive fire strikes.
  • Near Sinyelnykove in the Kharkiv direction, encircled elements of Ukraine’s 57th and 127th brigades were described as reduced to roughly two dozen personnel.
  • The encircled group was initially assessed at up to a company, and RIA Novosti previously cited the near-total destruction of the 92nd Brigade’s ‘Shkval’ unit earlier in the week.
