Russia Says Air Defenses Downed 194 Drones Across Multiple Regions on Dec. 27

The claims come from the Defense Ministry without independent confirmation.

  • From 6:00–8:00 p.m. Moscow time, the Defense Ministry reported 83 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones destroyed, including 48 over Bryansk, 23 over Moscow Region with 18 said to be heading toward Moscow, nine over Kaluga, and one each over Kursk, Ryazan, and Smolensk.
  • Earlier from 3:00–6:00 p.m., the ministry said air defenses downed 111 drones, listing 73 over Bryansk, 20 over Kaluga, eight over Moscow Region, five over Tula, three over Oryol, and two over Smolensk.
  • The ministry attributed all of the drones to Ukraine and described them as fixed-wing UAVs.
  • Russian officials also reported seven drones intercepted overnight on Dec. 26–27, with four over Krasnodar Krai and three over the Republic of Adygea.
  • The reported daytime interceptions follow a prior claim of 77 drones downed on the night of Dec. 25–26, indicating consecutive waves across several regions.
