Russia Says Air Defenses Down Moscow-Bound Drone After Week of Heavy UAV Intercepts

Officials cite the tallies as evidence of sustained attempts to penetrate Russian airspace.

  • Overnight the same day, air-defense units reported downing five drones over Bryansk (two), Belgorod (one), Rostov (one) and Oryol (one) regions.
  • For the week, the ministry reported 1,327 fixed-wing UAVs shot down, along with 21 guided aerial bombs, 14 US-made HIMARS rockets and five Neptun missiles, and cited a cumulative 108,206 UAVs destroyed since the war began.
  • The ministry also highlighted tactical actions, saying VDV operators used FPV strike drones to disrupt a Ukrainian rotation on the Dnipro’s right bank in Kherson region and that a group led by Captain Evgeny Kulikov destroyed trucks, an ammunition depot, infantry and a UAV control point.
