Russia Reports Su-57 Licensing Talks With India and UAC and HAL Seal Superjet Production Pact

Indian authorities have not publicly confirmed the reported Su-57 production negotiations.

Overview

  • UAC’s chief said at Wings India that technical talks on licensing Su-57E production in India are at an “advanced” stage, with potential use of HAL’s Su-30 lines and extensive Indian content, though New Delhi has not acknowledged this.
  • Rosoboronexport stated its offer includes Su-57E deliveries, organization of production in India, and support for India’s AMCA stealth fighter program.
  • UAC and HAL signed a joint activity agreement to localize and produce the SJ-100 in India, with HAL to aid type certification and receive a license to manufacture and sell the aircraft and spares.
  • UAC will provide consulting, design support, and retooling assistance for HAL facilities, with a forthcoming master agreement to set the roadmap, timelines, financials, and workforce plans.
  • Russia is pitching an “import-independent” SJ-100 configuration using PD-8 engines to avoid Western sanctions, and UAC expects to localize components in India with some parts potentially supplied back to Russia.
