Russia Pounds Ukraine With Drone Barrage as Kyiv Hits Refineries, Plans Deeper Strikes

Zelenskyy signals new long-range operations after overnight strikes cut electricity for tens of thousands.

Overview

  • Ukraine said Russia launched about 142 attack drones overnight, with air defenses downing 126 as strikes hit 10 locations and debris fell in six others.
  • Energy sites were damaged in the Odesa region, leaving more than 29,000 customers without power in areas including Chornomorsk, while 30,000 households in Chernihiv also lost electricity.
  • Ukraine’s General Staff said drones struck oil refineries in Russia’s Krasnodar and Syzran regions, reporting fires at both sites as part of efforts to constrain Moscow’s fuel supplies.
  • Zelenskyy announced that new deep strikes are prepared following a day the Ukrainian military described as highly active on the front, with 182 combat engagements and mass artillery and drone use.
  • The Kremlin praised Trump’s push for talks but accused European powers of hindering peace efforts, as Moscow insisted it would keep its operation going without what it considers reciprocal moves from Kyiv.
