Overview

  • Russia targeted Ukraine with 367 drones and missiles in its largest aerial assault since the war began, striking over 22 regions, including Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Mykolaiv.
  • At least 12 people were killed, including three children in Zhytomyr, and dozens were injured as residential buildings and infrastructure were heavily damaged.
  • The airstrikes coincided with the final phase of the largest prisoner exchange since 2022, with 1,000 detainees swapped between Russia and Ukraine over three days.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks and called for stronger international pressure on Russia to end the violence and achieve a ceasefire.
  • The Istanbul peace talks earlier this month led to the prisoner exchange agreement, but no progress has been made toward a ceasefire as Russia continues its offensive.
