Overview
- Ukraine officially reported up to eight Geran-3 jet-powered drones among 78 Shahed UAVs used in coordinated strikes on the nights of July 30–31 targeting Kyiv and surrounding areas.
- The Air Force Command counted 51 drones shot down or disabled by electronic warfare, interceptor drones, anti-air missiles and mobile fire groups during the assault.
- Equipped with a jet engine, the Geran-3 can exceed 500 km/h and fly up to 9.1 km altitude, creating a radar signature similar to that of a cruise missile.
- Debris recovered in late June bearing serial number U-36 indicates at least limited serial production of the Geran-3 variant inside Russia.
- Kyiv is accelerating development of advanced counter-drone measures to manage reduced reaction windows and preserve missile reserves against future Geran-3 barrages.
