Russia Extends Fuel Export Curbs as Retail and Exchange Prices Edge Up

Officials frame the move as a step to steady domestic supply during elevated seasonal demand.

  • Average retail gasoline prices rose by 55 kopecks to 64.33 rubles per liter and diesel increased by 31 kopecks to 72.94 rubles per liter for the week ending October 6, according to Rosstat.
  • By grade, AI-92 averaged 61.19 rubles per liter, AI-95 reached 66.41, and AI-98 climbed to 86.06, Rosstat reported.
  • Price increases were recorded in 79 regions, led by Chechnya at +6.3%, with declines in four regions, including a 1.7% drop in Sevastopol; Moscow and St. Petersburg saw gains of 0.6% and 0.5%.
  • On the St. Petersburg Exchange, AI-92 rose 0.03% to 74,126 rubles per ton and AI-95 added 0.17% to 79,945, while summer diesel gained 0.49% to 73,027 and winter diesel rose 0.19% to 77,664.
  • The government extended a gasoline export embargo for all exporters through year-end and barred non-producers from exporting diesel, marine fuel, and other gasoils.
