Overview

  • Russia launched roughly 400 drones and 40 missiles at multiple Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Luzk, Ternopil and Cherson, in what Ukraine’s air defenses called one of the largest overnight raids since 2022
  • Air defenses intercepted many incoming threats but the barrage still inflicted significant damage and casualties, with at least 15 dead and dozens injured across the targeted regions
  • Ukraine’s SBU reported that its “Spinnennetz” drone campaign struck deep into Russian territory, damaging or destroying dozens of military aircraft on airfields in Saratov, Ryazan and other regions
  • Moscow’s defense ministry framed the strikes as retaliation for Ukrainian drone attacks on its air bases while Kyiv labeled the raids “terrorism,” urging urgent reinforcement of air defenses and increased international sanctions
  • Russian officials say ground forces have advanced into the Dnipropetrovsk region for the first time, and Ukrainian authorities reported at least one civilian killed as diplomatic efforts over prisoner exchanges collapse
