Overview

  • On the night of July 16–17, Russia deployed 400 Shahed-type drones and an Iskander ballistic missile against Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih, Vinnytsia and Dnipro.
  • Ukrainian air defenses intercepted nearly 200 drones and jammed over 140 decoys, with 22 more shot down during a Dnipro assault that killed one and wounded five.
  • The latest strikes killed at least three civilians, injured around 30 others and caused power outages by damaging energy infrastructure across multiple regions.
  • Ukraine retaliated with drone raids on Russia’s Lipetsk and Voronezh regions, prompting Moscow to claim it downed 55 Ukrainian drones and reported minor civilian injuries.
  • President Trump’s 50-day deadline for a peace deal has yet to curb the violence as both sides maintain an attritional air campaign.
