The incident occurred after Westbrook hit a three-pointer and directed a middle finger toward the Knicks' bench in apparent frustration or celebration.
Westbrook led the Nuggets with 27 points, including 24 in the fourth quarter, despite the lopsided defeat.
The fine was announced by Joe Dumars, NBA executive vice president and head of basketball operations, as part of the league's strict enforcement of on-court conduct rules.
At 36 years old and in his 17th NBA season, Westbrook is averaging 12.2 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game in his first year with the Nuggets.
