Russell Cook Secures Algerian Visa, Continues Africa Run

After overcoming visa complications, Cook resumes his mission to run the length of Africa, raising over £150,000 for charity so far.

  • Russell Cook, a man from Worthing, West Sussex, is running the length of Africa, aiming to complete 360 marathons in 240 days.
  • The challenge, which began at South Africa's most southerly point, will finish at Tunisia's most northerly point, covering approximately 9,320 miles (14,500km).
  • Cook's journey was threatened by visa complications at the Algerian border with Mauritania, but he has now secured a multi-entry visa from the UK's Algerian embassy.
  • So far, Cook has been on the road for 283 days, run over 7,600 miles (12,200km) across 13 different countries, and raised over £150,000 for The Running Charity.
  • Despite challenges including health scares, geopolitical issues, and an armed robbery, Cook remains determined to complete his mission, with over 4,000km of running still left to do.
