Rush-Hour Stops in Ottawa Nab Two G1 Stunt Drivers, Suspended G2 in HOV Lane

  • Ottawa Police say a 22-year-old G1 driver was clocked at 136 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Limebank Road and charged with stunt driving.
  • A 19-year-old G1 driver on River Road was stopped at 107 km/h in a 60 km/h zone without the required accompanying driver and now faces a stunt-driving charge.
  • Both Ottawa G1 motorists had their licences suspended on the spot and their vehicles impounded, with a court date set in one case.
  • OPP reported a G2 driver, already under suspension, travelling 138 km/h in the HOV lane on Highway 417 near Moodie Drive.
  • The OPP said the vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver faces a minimum $2,000 fine for driving while suspended plus nearly $400 in additional fines and seven demerit points.
