Runable Raises $21 Million to Turn AI Agent From Builder Into Growth Tool

The Bengaluru startup plans to add ad, social, SEO, chatbot features to help small businesses win customers.

Overview

  • Runable announced Wednesday it raised $21 million in a Series A co-led by Susquehanna Venture Capital and Nexus Venture Partners that values the company at $65 million post-money.
  • The company pivoted from browser-scraping infrastructure to a general-purpose AI agent that builds websites, apps and presentations from natural-language prompts and is now extending that agent into a ‘grow’ suite for ad campaigns, social, SEO and AI-chatbot visibility.
  • Runable says it has about 1.7 million registered users, reached a $2 million annualized revenue run rate within three weeks of launching paid plans in March, and saw users consume more than 1 trillion tokens in the past 90 days.
  • The startup is operating at negative gross margins because it subsidizes inference costs and must often require customers to connect external ad accounts to run campaigns, although it claims unnamed partnerships let it place ads on ChatGPT without linked accounts.
  • Facing competition from OpenAI, Anthropic and specialist agent platforms, Runable plans to develop its own models and seek lower inference costs to improve unit economics while hiring across engineering, product and growth to scale the service.
