Overview
- Rumo officially delivered 162 kilometres of new track and a 200‑hectare terminal on BR‑070 at Dom Aquino and began testing operations following the June 20 inauguration.
- The Dom Aquino terminal is built to handle up to 10 million tonnes of grain a year with five truck unloaders, capacity to load 16 rail wagons per hour, and space for 250 trucks.
- Rumo says it has invested about R$5 billion so far and expects the line to gain operational traction in the second half of 2026 with the terminal becoming more significant for exports from 2027.
- The project is being carried out with 100% private construction under a state authorization model, backed by financing from BNDES and inclusion in the federal PAC program.
- Planned later phases would extend the system to roughly 743 km linking Rondonópolis and Lucas do Rio Verde with a branch to Cuiabá, but those sections remain subject to environmental licensing and a contractual horizon toward 2034.
