Rugby World Cup Winner Elton Jantjies Receives Four-Year Doping Ban

The South African fly-half tested positive for clenbuterol, a banned substance, and may face a career-ending suspension.

Elton Jantjies, a former South Africa fly-half and part of the 2019 World Cup winning squad, has been handed a four-year ban for failing a drugs test.
The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport found Jantjies guilty of using clenbuterol, a fat-burning substance also found in asthma medication.
Jantjies, who is 33, announced in August that he had failed a test, vowing to do everything in his power to prove his innocence.
Despite his claims of innocence, Jantjies did not exercise his right to have his case heard before an independent doping hearing panel, according to the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport.
Jantjies' agent, Anthony Johnson, has indicated that they are considering fighting the outcome.
