Overview
- On July 24 at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and AIIO head Umer Ahmed Ilyasi led a three-and-a-half-hour closed-door meeting with over 50 Muslim clerics and senior RSS leaders.
- Attendees agreed to launch regular samvaad between mandirs and masjids, imams and pujaris, and gurukuls and madrasas as structured trust-building exercises.
- The initiative is woven into the RSS’s centenary celebrations and the All India Imam Organisation’s 50th anniversary, reflecting a continuity of outreach that began in 2022.
- Senior RSS figures Krishna Gopal, Indresh Kumar and Ram Lal joined clerics from major seminaries such as Darul Uloom Deoband and Bareilly Shareef in the dialogue.
- Both organisations committed to extending the samvaad to the grassroots through coordinated programmes in multiple states.
