• The five-month-old puppies were discovered in bushland on Robin Street in Chuwar with tape around their mouths and residue on their paws suggesting their limbs had been bound.
• A member of the public found the first puppy on July 12, and inspectors used the rescued dog to lure and capture its littermate on July 13.
• Both animals have undergone veterinary examinations and are receiving behavioural rehabilitation at an RSPCA Queensland facility.
• RSPCA Queensland is urging anyone with information about the abandonment to contact 1300 ANIMAL or submit tips through its website.
• Under the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001, individuals guilty of such cruelty face fines up to A$322,600 and prison sentences of up to seven years.
