RS1’s Heylen, Mars Win VIR Pilot Challenge, Stretch Points Lead

A late restart allowed Jan Heylen to seize the lead and extend RS1’s advantage in the standings.

Overview

  • Heylen passed Turner Motorsport’s Francis Selldorff on the final restart with 15 minutes remaining and won by 0.658 seconds over KohR Motorsports’ Sam Paley.
  • The No. 59 KohR Ford Mustang GT4 finished third, with the Turner BMW dropping to fourth and Stephen Cameron Racing’s Gregory Liefooghe taking fifth despite stopping on the cool-down lap.
  • Pole-sitter Nate Cicero led the opening stint but a suspected gearbox issue during McCumbee McAleer Racing’s only stop dropped the No. 13 Mustang nearly a lap down.
  • RVA Graphics Motorsports By Speed Syndicate earned its first TCR victory in five years as Jaden Conwright overtook Bryan Herta Autosport’s Mark Wilkins with 11 minutes to go.
  • Early TCR leader Eric Powell was sidelined in a three-car crash that drew a penalty for Bill Cain, and a late caution followed when the Rockwell Autosport Audi of Bruno Colombo went off in Turn 11.
