RPF Seizes 121 kg of Cannabis at Sealdah Station, Eight Held

The latest interception underscores sustained intelligence-driven searches along eastern rail corridors to disrupt trafficking networks exploiting passenger trains.

  • Eastern Railway RPF officers discovered 121 kg of cannabis hidden in six bags aboard the Uttarbanga Express at Sealdah, detaining four men, two women and two juveniles.
  • The contraband, valued at over Rs 24 lakh, was handed to the Government Railway Police and formal cases were filed under the NDPS Act.
  • Since January, Northeast Frontier Railway RPF has recovered 3,706.94 kg of ganja worth Rs 3.67 crore and arrested 126 suspected drug peddlers.
  • Between July 17 and 24, coordinated NFR operations at six stations yielded 168.67 kg of ganja and 475 bottles of liquor, resulting in seven drug and liquor arrests.
  • Those same checks produced seven theft-related arrests and the recovery of six mobile phones, one laptop and Rs 1.19 lakh in cash.
